Your first appointment
You may
be anxious about your first appointment - this is quite
normal. Our experience and professionalism
will show itself in our sensitivity and understanding
of your concerns. You will be able to speak individually
with Mr Clarke and your conversation will be completely
confidential. You will also find that you will be helping
yourself by coming prepared for your first appointment.
Here are the issues you will need to consider beforehand:
You will
need to have been referred by your GP.
This is the case with all patients Mr Clarke sees and
is considered to be, if not a requirement before treatment
can proceed, good practice as defined by the General
Medical Council (GMC).
You should
bring with you any medical documentation you may have
in your possession. This may include
information from your GP but also, in some instances,
Mr Clarke's patients will have seen another consultant
for treatment and they may have results of tests or
other documentation. If you have doubts about what to
bring do not hesitate to contact the hospital in question.
You may
want to prepare a self assessed summary of problems
you may wish to discuss. Whilst this
is not a necessity Mr Clarke finds that many of his
patients feel more comfortable if they have a list
of
questions they have prepared to ask him prior to the
consultation.
Do remember that all communication between
yourself and us is completely confidential. When you
feel ready you should contact the hospital in question
(from this site or by telephone) to make a preliminary
enquiry. When you are satisfied that you wish to make
an appointment you will want to contact us again and
begin to prepare yourself for your consultation.
Cancellations
Should it be necessary for you to cancel
an appointment please telephone the relevant hospital
during the working day at least 24 hours in advance
if possible. |
