Andrew Clarke is a Consultant General, Colorectal and Laparoscopic Surgeon based at Poole Hospital with a private practice in Poole and Bournemouth. After qualifying in Manchester in 1988 his postgraduate training was undertaken in the North West. He worked at many of the major teaching hospitals including The Christie Hospital Cancer Institute and was awarded an MD Thesis in 2000. After a brief period working in America he took up a Consultant post at Manchester Royal Infirmary in 2002, moving to Poole in 2004 where he set up the pelvic floor and laparoscopic service.
Andrew regularly performs endoscopy (colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and gastroscopy) and haemorrhoid surgery. He has longstanding experience in hernias especially key hole (laparoscopic) repair and sportsman’s hernia treatment. Andrew has also built a national reputation for his specialist interest in pelvic floor disorders and when conservative measures have been exhausted he provides treatments for incontinence (sacral nerve stimulation, sphincter reconstruction, Sphinkeeper), prolapse repair and constipation. He is a National trainer for laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy and the STARR procedure.
