A proctologist, or more accurately a coloproctologist, is a doctor who specialises in pathology of the colon, rectum and anus.  Coloproctologists are also known as colorectal surgeons and they treat a wide range of conditions that affect the lower parts of the digestive system through non-operative and surgical means.

●      Rectal prolapse – This is where the rectum begins to fall from its position into the anal opening.
